Loss

One, two, three,
dance with me.
Precious darling, hold my hand.

Steps so light,
twirl with delight,
before I lose you to heaven.

See us here, so crystal clear.
Soon turning into memories.

*

Then, one night, extinguished your light,
a cold and lonely December.

Every year, when winter grows near,
I fade into darkness.

*

You stayed tough, when life was rough,
but angels refused to let you stay.
Taking you that day, to a place far away,
leaving me with ashes.

*

Every day we tossed the dice,
your divine smile had a costly price.

We fought together, were almost done.
A moment later, and “we” became “one”.

*

Let’s dance once more, just like before.
Another step, two or three,
before I crumble to my knees.

When you go,
I follow slow.
Before fading into darkness.

This text came to me as I listened to the hauntingly beautiful "Once upon a December" song
(instrumental, ethereal version), from the movie Anastacia.
The sentences follow the flow of the music, but not in correct order, and I've reorganized a lot.
